Artist Kelly Casey is predominantly a landscape painter, moving toward abstraction. A Northern Rivers local now living in big sky county on the plains of the Snowy-Monaro in Southern NSW.
If you asked her, she’d say that she paints the way she sees, drawing heavily on raw sienna and umber, on prussian blue and the richness of orange, pink and gold oxides. Kelly works on heavy paper using watercolour and gauche, and oil on canvas.
Kelly has been a finalist in many national art awards, including the Black Swan (now the Lester Prize), the Doug Moran, the Kennedy, the Basil Sellers and most recently the Bermingham Landscape Prize for watercolour.
Casey's solo exhibition 'A Little Further North' is on until 8th November at Art Kind Gallery.
